Our philosophy

At Ohm, we view health as more than just the absence of illness—it’s a dynamic balance of physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being. Our philosophy is inspired by the Māori concepts of Hauora and Te Whare Tapa Whā, which guide everything we do.

Hauora is the foundation of our approach. In Māori, Hā means breath and Ora means life, symbolising the vital connection between breathing and overall health. We believe that by mastering the breath, you unlock the gateway to holistic well-being. Te Whare Tapa Whā: The Four Pillars of Health

Inspired by Te Whare Tapa Whā, we view well-being as a house supported by four essential walls:

  • Taha Tinana (Physical Health)

    The physical body and its ability to maintain health through movement, nutrition, and the life-giving power of breath.

  • Taha Hinengaro (Mental Health)

    The mind’s ability to process thoughts, and emotions, and manage stress, is deeply connected to how we breathe.

  • Taha Whānau (Social Health)

  • Taha Wairua (Spiritual Health)

    The soul’s connection to a greater purpose, nurtured by mindful breathing and a deep sense of peace.
